The biggest hit
Marketplace commissions are your biggest Fresha cost. Every new client from the marketplace costs you 20% of the service price — and many salon owners report being charged for clients who were already theirs.

Common questions about Fresha pricing
No. Fresha has two paid plans: Individual at £14.95/month for solo practitioners, and Team at £9.95 per staff member per month. On top of that, you pay 20% commission on the first booking from new marketplace clients (minimum £4), 1.40% + 25p per online payment, 1.19% + 20p per in-person card payment, and 5p per SMS after a free allowance of 20 per staff per month. For a solo stylist doing 80 bookings a month, the real cost is typically £80–£150/month.
Fresha charges a 20% commission on the first booking from any new client who finds you through the Fresha marketplace. This applies to the full service price, not just Fresha’s fee. If a new client books a £60 colour treatment via the marketplace, Fresha takes £12. Many salon owners report that existing clients are sometimes incorrectly attributed as marketplace clients.
Fresha charges 1.40% + 25p per transaction for online payments, and 1.19% + 20p per transaction for in-person card payments via their terminal. These fees are on top of the subscription and commission charges. For a salon processing 80 bookings at £45 average, that’s roughly £40–£60/month in processing fees alone.
Fresha’s 20% commission only applies to new clients who book through the Fresha marketplace. If clients book directly through your booking link, there’s no commission. However, many salon owners report that Fresha attributes existing clients as “new marketplace” bookings, leading to unexpected commission charges. The only way to fully avoid commissions is to use a platform that doesn’t charge them.
Tavix starts from £15/month (annual) or £19/month (monthly) with zero commission, free WhatsApp reminders (no SMS fees), and no payment processing markups. For a solo stylist, that’s a flat £19/month vs £100–£180/month on Fresha — saving you over £1,000 a year. Plus, WhatsApp reminders have a 98% open rate compared to SMS.
